HRH Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud – Oasis Magazine

Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud is the stereotypical Saudi woman, which ironically makes her the anti-thesis of the Western stereotype of the Saudi woman. She’s assertive. She’s intelligent. And she’s independent. She’s the ideal role model for any inspiring entrepreneur. And she does it all, while still being one of the most liked individuals among the international fashion world.

As CEO of Alfa International and Al Hama LLC, two leading luxury retail corporations based in Saudi Arabia, Princess Reema has become a known name among both the business and fashion sectors. Alfa is a fast growing business, whose interests currently include operating the Harvey Nichols Riyadh, the first ever-overseas location for the prestigious luxury department store. Al Hama is just as impressive, having managed brands, including Donna Karan and DKNY in the Middle East, for over the past 15 years. Raised and educated in Washington, D.C., Princess Reema holds a Bachelor of Arts in Museum Studies from Mount Vernon College of George Washington University. Upon re-turning to Saudi Arabia, Her Highness dedicated herself to building businesses in her native country. It is this dedication to the betterment of her homeland that is one of her most admiring attributes. A supporter of Saudi youth, social responsibility and charity-related work are always intertwined with Princess Reema’s business endeavours, such as the founding of Alf Khair, the corporate social responsibility arm of Alfa International.

Getting women into the workforce was something Princess Reema began with her first project, Yibreen, where she also oversaw the spa’s active participation in supporting the Al Nahda Women’s Philanthropic Society and the Zahra Breast Cancer Association, of which she is a founding member. In recognition of her significant accomplishments and commitment to social change and community activism, the Women’s Campaign International (WCI) appointed Princess Reema as Saudi Arabia’s Committee Mentor for the Advancement of Women’s Leadership, in the Middle East and North Africa.

More recently, Princess Reema founded Baraboux, a fashion handbag and luggage range designed to provide practical solutions without sacrificing beauty. Her Highness is the brand’s Creative Director and its launch collection arrives in international boutiques for the Spring/Summer 2013 retail season.
