At the Met Gala on Monday, Reese Witherspoon had a name-botching moment that thankfully wasn’t quite as cringe-worthy as “Adele Dazeem.” (Is anything?) While in an elevator at an after-party with Cara Delevingne, the actress got her vowel sounds confused, before admitting that she didn’t know “what [her] fucking name is.” Then, she went into a pretty epic spiel about how sexy and “super French” the model’s name is… as well as the merits of having a name worthy of a man “whispering it in his pillow” (raunchy, Reese!). Apparently, Cara wasn’t too perturbed—in fact, she captured the entire golden exchange on Instagram for our eager eyes… and promptly removed it. But the internet never forgets, and we have managed to snag the video regardless:
We’re not sure why it had to come down, because it’s seriously okay, Reese. I’ve met a few Caras who pronounce their names differently. And I’ve definitely spelled “Delevingne” wrong more times than I’d care to admit—and not after a night of hauling couture up and down those Met stairs (and maaaybe a few drinks).
