Versace Spring Summer 2013 RTW Preview

Last Monday afternoon, I attended the Versace Spring Summer 2013 preview at the Grosvenor House Hotel. The collection showed nothing short of what was expected from Donatella, a strong powerful woman, which most of us can relate to or aspire to be.

I discovered that with the collection, Versace went back to its true self. The original sensation of the house was manifestly vibrating through every piece. There was a pervading Bohemian/gypsy inclination to the collection without it being glaringly obvious.
Tantalizing: everything you would want from Donatella Versace.

The collection included embellished tunics and separates of one color, complimented with leather belts and stringent color blocking of caramel, pale blue, orange, and yellow-green:all exhibiting the Versace we all have come to love, presume, and relish.

Lace was evident in most of the collection. Flattering silhouettes with a lingerie frontier of lace panels, either running down jeans exposing thighs, lace hot pants or lace cutouts on tailored over sized boyfriend jackets. The one thing about lace being present: it was all in the right places, to give it that soup-çon of allure, and calls for consolidation of effort (or possibly luck!) to avoid the kind of wardrobe mishap we all long to avoid.

The collection also included crumpled tie-dyed silks, which isn’t for the faint hearted, who cannot stand anything being un-ironed; But for us that loath ironing, we will gladly accept.

The accessories included coral colored handbags, fringed metals jewelry, giving the appearance of illustrious dripping gold and silver, and knee length pointed crisscross ankle strap gladiator style sandal boots, which took a foremost part center in this collection.

The collection was the nonchalant Versace goddess who dawns her gladiator sandals and best lingerie.
