Like any other year, 2016 had the best fashion showdowns; fresh new faces on the catwalk, new hit songs and of course endless drama! We’ve decided to do a quick year recap and bring you our SD Awards of the best moments of 2016, because what’s a new year without a reflection on the past? But despite all of that, we’ve had joyous moments and we have the entertainment world to thank for it!
Best New Comers:
1- Chloe x Halle: YouTube Sensation turned into Reality
Mentored by none other than Queen Bey, Chloe and Halle is the sister duo that have all of us wishing we had a good singing voice! Signed with Beyoncé’s record label Parkwood Entertainment they’ve released their first EP “Sugar Symphony” last April.
2- Best New Celebrity Addiction : Sofia Richie
Aspiring designer, singer and model, Sofia Richie is the new kid on the block and she quickly became a model to watch out for, last year. Yes… when you’re the late Michael Jackson’s goddaughter and related to Lionel and Nicole Richie, you’re allowed to do it all!
3- Best New Model: Naki Depass
From Prada to Celine, Burberry to Givenchy and that’s just to name a few, Naki Depass is an accountant turned model who has developed an impressive runway portfolio for a new comer. This Jamaican girl is a rising star from whom we can expect a lot from!
4- Monse: Brought the Trends
Those shoulder cleavage and stripes that we’ve all loved and sworn to wear, as the perfect street style outfit were all trends brought to us by Monse. They have our vote for the best upcoming fashion brand!
Best Beauty Products:
1- Best Face Wash: Wash Away by Joelle Paris
The best skin treatment can be found online but better yet it’s a local product by our very own, Joelle Mardinian. The mousse works as a gentle face wash and is for all skin types.
2- Best New Perfume: Prada Olfactories
From the campaign to the title, we can tell Prada was inspired by art for its Olfactories 10 set of perfume. Our favorite is Purple Rain, it’s like having Prince in a bottle.
3- Best Mascara: Max Factor
All day and year long, our favorite mascara goes to “Velvet Volume” by Max Factor. Yes…we love velvet even in our eyes and that’s because this mascara keeps our lashes curly and long and we don’t have to worry about putting fake lashes!
4- Best Highlighter: Make up Forever
We loved given our face a little golden touch with this pro light fusion highlighter.
5- Best Lipstick: NARS
Matte or gloss, red or peach, our favorite lipstick of the year is definitely from the Sarah Moon for Nars collection.
6- Best Bronzer: Mariah for MAC
We can finally look as glam as the diva herself! The bronzer from the limited holiday edition is our favorite we just we could have it all year long in 2017.
